We have also made changes this year so that the nominee will only get one notice of nomination.

How are the 40under40 selected?

A selection panel – including senior lighting professionals, association representatives, educators and section editors and curatorial board members from Lighting magazine – convene in March to assess all the nominees. This gathering debates the merits of the candidates, weighing their achievements until they find forty candidates for the year.

The selection panel looks for nominees who have specific achievements in the field of architectural lighting design. Therefore try to be as specific as possible when you are filling out the nomination or nominee online form. Measurable achievements should be included and could include achievements such as contribution to successful projects, awards from professional associations or other groups or educational achievement. We know that many achievements aren’t easily quantified or acknowledged, so therefore give us as much detail as you can.
