The search for North America’s most promising up-and-coming lighting designers has had an overwhelming response from the profession.
Over 120 young professionals from across the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean have been nominated by their principals and peers for recognition in the inaugural 40under40 programme for the region.
Practices participating include Arup, KGM Architectural Lighting, Auerbach Glasow, Tillotson Design Associates, PritchardPeck Lighting, HLB Lighting, niteolighting, Cooley Monato Studio, BEAM, Sladen Feinstein Integrated Lighting, Lux Populi, eSquared Lighting, HGA Architects and Engineers, Lam Partners and Brian Orter Lighting Design BOLD.
Now the nominees face an anxious wait. Their submissions, citations and supporting material will be assessed and discussed by a prestigious panel of industry expert selectors and the final 40under40 Class of 2018 will be named at 12pm Eastern Time on Monday 19 February.
The glamorous presentation ceremony is set to be the highlight of LEDucation week in New York. The event takes place at the exclusive Estrella Penthouse at Parker Hotel with unrivalled views of Central Park.
The event – on Monday 12 March 2018 – is supported by LEDucation, Lighting magazine, The New School at Parsons and PennWell’s media brands in the LED and Lighting Network.
Lighting editor Jill Entwistle arrives from London to host the ceremony, which includes a keynote address by the current international Lighting Designer of the Year, Suzan Tillotson of Tillotson Design Associates.
